ClipTween

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This policy explains how the ClipTween app for Android ("ClipTween", "the app") treats your information. The app is made by Pix and Dev ("we", "us"). The short version: your projects, drawings, images and sounds stay on your device and are never uploaded. There are no accounts. The app is free and uses two Google services — AdMob to show ads and Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage statistics — and, where the law requires it, asks for your consent before either of them starts.

What stays on your device

Your projects, drawings, images, sounds, exported files and the names you give them are stored on your device only. We never receive them, and they are never sent to the ad or analytics services. ClipTween has no accounts and no sign-in, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or location.

Information collected by the services the app uses

ClipTween includes software from Google. It runs on your device, and it needs an internet connection to work. These services collect information on their own behalf as described below; we do not receive it in a form that identifies you.

Google AdMob (ads)

ClipTween is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. The app shows:

  • Rewarded ads, which you choose to watch — for example to export a video or GIF without the ClipTween watermark, or to unlock a group of extra brushes until you close the app;
  • Full-screen (interstitial) ads, which may appear at natural breaks while you use the app, for example between screens or after an action finishes.

To show ads, Google AdMob may collect and use:

  • your Android advertising ID and your device's IP address (from which an approximate location can be worked out);
  • device and app information such as device model, operating system version, language, app name and version;
  • information about how you interact with ads (for example that one was shown, watched or closed), and diagnostics.

Depending on your choices and where you live, ads may be personalised or not. See "Your choices" below.

Firebase Analytics (Google)

We use Firebase Analytics to learn, in aggregate, which features are used so we can improve the app. It collects a random identifier for the app installation, the Android advertising ID where available, approximate location (country and city, derived from the IP address), device and app information, and the events the app reports. The events are simple actions such as "a project was opened", "a brush was picked", "an export finished" (with its format, shape and length) and whether an ad was watched. They contain no project names, file names, drawings, images or sounds.

Analytics data is kept for a limited period set in our Firebase account (no more than 14 months).

How Google uses it

Google acts as a processor for analytics and as an advertising service for ads. How it handles information is described in the Google Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, and Privacy and Security in Firebase. Google may process the data on servers in countries other than your own.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else.

Internet permission

The app asks for Android's internet and network-state permissions. They are used only so ads can load and analytics can be sent. Drawing, animating, importing and exporting all work with no connection; without one, no ads are available and no analytics are sent.

Your choices

  • Consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and some other places, the app shows a consent form from Google when you first open it. If you decline, analytics stays off and your data is not used to personalise ads. Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads, which do not use your past activity to choose what you see.
  • Change your mind. Where the form is shown, a Privacy settings button on the app's home screen lets you open it again at any time.
  • Personalised ads. You can turn off ad personalisation, or reset or delete your advertising ID, in Android's Settings → Google → Ads (the path varies by device).
  • Everything else. You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the app.

Files you choose

The app reads a file only when you pick it yourself with Android's file picker — for example an image, a sound file or a ClipTween project. It does not scan or browse your storage on its own, and it does not ask for any storage, camera, microphone, contacts or location permission.

When you export a video, GIF or project file, it is written to the place you choose.

Where your projects are kept

Your projects, images and sounds are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Only ClipTween can read that storage. Uninstalling the app deletes it, so export a project file first if you want to keep it.

Backups made by Android

Android's own backup feature may copy the app's data to your Google account if you have device backup turned on. That is a feature of your device and your Google account, controlled by your device settings and Google's privacy policy; we do not receive or have access to those backups.

Google Play

If you download ClipTween from Google Play, Google may collect information such as install counts and, if you have chosen to share them, crash and performance reports, and provide summaries of them to us. We do not receive personal information through this.

Children

ClipTween is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the app and you would like it dealt with, contact us.

US state privacy rights

Some US states (for example California, Virginia and Colorado) give residents the right to opt out of "sharing" or "targeted advertising". We do not sell your information for money, but showing personalised ads through Google AdMob may count as sharing under these laws. You can opt out at any time by turning off ad personalisation or deleting your advertising ID in Android's Settings → Google → Ads; ads you see after that are not personalised.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. We hold no information that identifies you, and the analytics identifier is random and not linked to a name or account, so we cannot normally look you up. You can withdraw consent in the app (see "Your choices") and delete the analytics identifier by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it. For anything else, contact us and we will help.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy — for example by adding another service — we will update this page and the date above before that version is released.
